Message from Sen. Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil

I am delighted to inform you that the journey to the 2011 Prime Minister’s CSR Awards has begun. In Malaysia, CSR has never been more urgent, as businesses pick up steam after the recent global economic downturn. In presenting the 2011 budget, the Prime Minister urged the corporate sector to partner with the government in not only reinvigorating the economy but also enhancing the quality of life of Malaysians.

The Government recognises the role it must play, but this journey is not one that we can walk alone. It is only with the involvement and implementation of sustainable practices from the private sector that we will be able to achieve our goal of becoming a high performance nation by 2020; a nation that is not only economically sound, but socially as well.

To encourage corporate Malaysia to implement the business of caring as a core operating procedure, The Prime Minister’s CSR Awards was initiated in 2007 by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development through the Department of Social Welfare.

This is the Government’s way of recognising the leadership and vision of companies that are today demonstrating how businesses can operate with integrity and engage society. By giving outstanding programmes the recognition they deserve and showcasing them to a wider audience, the Ministry seeks to encourage companies of all different sizes to become part of a growing movement for change.

It gives me great pleasure to extend an invitation to your company to send in a submission for consideration for the Prime Minister’s CSR Awards 2011. All submissions will be carefully vetted by a distinguished panel of judges. The Prime Minister will present the awards to the winners at a prestigious awards ceremony to be held later this year. We look forward to your participation in the Prime Minister’s CSR Awards.
