L’Oreal Malaysia recognised for empowering women
L’Oreal is driven by the conviction that the world needs science and science needs women. It’s commitment to improving the representation of women in research was recognised with the 2010 PM’s CSR Award for the Empowerment of Women.
Generally women are under-represented in the research industry with only a small percentage occupying senior positions in scientific fields. L’Oreal Malaysia For Women in Science Fellowships (FWIS) is an extension of the international L’Oreal-UNESCO Awards, and provides financial grants of RM20,000 each to three young female researchers to pursue scientific studies in Malaysia.

2010 Culture and Heritage: CIMB shines for supporting the arts
The CIMB Group embarked on two projects to help persons with disabilities to understand, learn, practice and preserve Malaysia’s cultural heritage through Deafbeat and Jing Ying Wushu, the Dragon & Lion Dance Association.
Deafbeat is a 14-member percussion troupe comprising of solely deaf performers set up with CIMB’s assistance in 2007. CIMB has been supporting the group from the beginning. Their instrument of choice is the Chinese Flower Drums, a traditional percussion instrument used in Chinese orchestra. The troupe started performing in 2008. Throughout 2009 and 2010, Deafbeat was invited to perform at selected CIMB events. [Read more...]
